Superior Insulation Solutions
Carbon Zero Quest
A time for change
With increasing pressure on our planet, it is time for change and Kontrol Building Products recognise that the time for change is now.
Reducing the carbon footprint of new homes is a key concern for private and social sector housing providers, with the governments' eventual move towards zero carbon homes occurring in three steps over the next decade:
| Date | 2010 | 2013 | 2016 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carbon improvement as compared to PartL 2006 | 25% | 44% | Zero carbon |
| Equivalent energy/carbon standard in the code | Code level 3 | Code level 4 | Code level 6 |
Energy Efficient
Kontrol Building Products is committed to innovating and delivering insulation products that meet the “Energy Efficiency” performance targets laid out in The Code for Sustainable Homes, which integrates higher sustainability performance into the design of houses.
All our products are designed to reduce carbon emission, through the insulating performance of our products, through the use of recycled and natural materials, or through the reduction in transport required in shipping bulky products; here at Kontrol Building Products we recognise that the future of the planet is in our hands.
Superior Multi-foil insulation
Our multi-foil insulation products for use in roofs and walls have superb thermal properties, thus ensuring that the energy efficiency performance targets can be achieved without compromising on rafter depth. The air-tightness that is achieved when installed as instructed ensures that the roof experiences minimal air leakage – meeting the requirements to be set out in 2011 Part L Building Regulations. It is Kontrol Building Product’s objective to continue to develop insulation products that can meet the future requirements of the Building regulations. Improving thermal insulation in building envelopes is recognised as a key area in reducing carbon emissions from homes, Kontrol Building Products continue to develop multi-foils that can offer superior R values, insulated vapour barriers and achieve air-tightness to add to the overall thermal efficiency of the build.
Naturally sustaining the future of insulation
Our natural and sustainable products not only help to reduce carbon emissions through their thermal insulating performance, but as they are manufactured from renewable sources they reduce the need to rely on other finite resources. A regenerating supply of Wool will ensure demands can be met and will also provide farmers with reliable source of income from the sale of fleeces.
Kontrol Supaloft Green is another product which shows our commitment to the environment. Made from up to 90% recycled plastic materials, this insulation ensures materials are being recycled and land-fills reduced. Settlement with Supaloft Green is minimal and therefore the thickness and thermal properties of the insulation is maintained, unlike conventional cold-roof insulants.
All our insulation is easy to install, easy to cut or tear and contains non-itch fibres, therefore making the need for PPE redundant.
Joint responsibility
Energy used in homes across the UK is responsible for 25% of all the UK’s CO2 emissions and with the Government introducing Carbon Emission Reduction Targets, Kontrol Building Products understands the important role that suppliers, manufacturers, distributors and consumers need to play in reducing the carbon emissions.
Since May 2008 all new homes and their carbon emissions are rated against the Code for Sustainable Homes and so now more than ever it is crucial to do our part in becoming more energy efficient within the home.
