Specialist Timber Frame Systems

There are times when a standard timber frame wall will just not suffice, especially when considering projects that are to be designed to Passive or Zero Carbon Standards.  In these cases increased thicknesses of insulation are required and the need to reduce cold bridging is essential. 

The examples below show two systems that are commonly applied to meet these requirements.  The double wall allows the greater use of insulation without the need for greatly increased timber specification and the “I” beam solution provided great structural strength with minimal cold bridging.   The benefits of the breathable wall are
