Fitting insulation has never been easier! With our time and space saving Kontrol R1.9 you can save money on your build.

Kontrol multi-foil products can be easily fit both under and over rafter, depending on your chosen insulation system, and are compatible with all other insulation products to achieve your desired insulation performance.

Remember - don’t forget to follow the golden rules below when insulating around tanks, pipes and electrics!

Above rafter fitting instructions

• Starting from the eaves, Kontrol R1.9 is unrolled across the rafters.
• Fix to the rafters using 14mm min galvanised staples or nails, keeping Kontrol R1.9 taut between each rafter.
• Overlap the next roll by at least 50mm and seal this overlap with Kontrol Tape.
• Permanently fix Kontrol R1.9 in place by nailing or screwing 32x25mm min wooden counter battens down each rafter.
• Remove excess Kontrol R1.9 using sharp scissors or knife. At gable ends, ridge and verges allow at least 50mm. This edge should be folded and stapled/nailed, and the cut edge sealed with Kontrol Tape.
• A breathable roofing membrane should be installed on the counter battens and tiling battens attached perpendicular to the rafters.
• Install roof tiles or slates.

Below rafter fitting instructions

• Starting from the ridge, Kontrol R1.9 is unrolled across the rafters.
• Fix to the rafters using 14mm min galvanised staples or nails, keeping Kontrol R1.9 taut between each rafter.
• Overlap the next roll by at least 50mm and seal this overlap with Kontrol Tape.
• Permanently fix Kontrol R1.9 in place by nailing or screwing 32x25mm min wooden battens parallel or perpendicular to the rafters. Ensure there is a 20mm min gap by fixing the batten on the 25mm face.
• Remove excess Kontrol R1.9 using sharp scissors or knife. At gable ends, ridge, purlins and wall plate allow at least 50mm. This edge should be folded and stapled/nailed, and the cut edge sealed with Kontrol Tape.
• Fix plasterboard to the battens.
